Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mushtaq Ahmad Khan has said that complete closure of Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR) in Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) is the initial point, and rejects any other option, except merger of FATA in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a news conference at JI provincial headquarter Al-Markaz Islami, Mushtaq Ahmad announced to hold "FRC Al-wida Grand Jirga" on December 4, in Peshawar. He said that Fata constitutionally and economically is still passing through from the pre-partition era, as the people of tribal areas haven't comprise the basic rights of access to court of justice in the 21st century.
The JI ameer said that his party decided to pull FATA of the existing situation and keep struggling to extend the benefits of developments and political rights to the people of FATA. "We have no difference with the Sartaj Aziz Commission except reservations over a few sections, he said and demanded immediate merger of FATA with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Mushtaq said that infrastructure in Fata was destroyed during last one and a half decade and economic activities were completely vanished, whereas agriculture is about zero, he added. In the same breath, he said that due to excessive load shedding of electricity across Fata also banished the only remaining Marble Industry and living of the tribal people turned hardened. He said that a huge amount of 90 billion rupees instead of mere 5 billion rupees is required for restoration of economic activities and living of the people in tribal belt.
The JI provincial ameer also urged to hold Local Government elections in FATA without any further delay, and convert the tube-wells to solar system aimed to overcome the water shortage and electricity shortage problem in the area. He also said that the population of FATA is around 10 million, which is being claiming as 4.8 million under a specific plan.
We also demands to connect the people of FATA from Bajaur agency to Waziristan agency through motorway and every tribal agency should be benefited from the multi-billion dollars CPEC project, he urged. Mushtaq Ahmad also said that on December 4, a grand Jirga of tribal elders, Maliks and elites of the area would be convened at Al-Markaz Islami, in which all the tribal elders will say good bye to the draconian FCR law and will demand immediate implementation of reforms prepared for FATA. He also criticized the referendum on the future of FATA, and termed it a delaying tactic.
