Prices of essential kitchen items witnessed a slight reduction during this week as compared to the preceding week, reveals a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Saturday. According to details of the survey, prices of potato, green chilli, cabbage, cauliflower, beans, radish, egg and chicken witnessed a reduction, while prices of sugar, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as well as other non-perishable items remained stable.
Good quality ghee/cooking oil brands like Dalda per 5kg tin is being available at Rs 850, eggs with a reduction of Rs 10 per dozen in the wholesale market are being sold at Rs 100 against Rs 110 per dozen, which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 110 per dozen against Rs 120 per dozen.
Live chicken price went down by Rs 1,000 per 40kg from Rs 5,200 in the wholesale market to Rs 4,200, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 150 per kg, while chicken meat is being sold at Rs 190 per kg against Rs 260 per kg.
Sugar price didn't witness any change and it is being sold at Rs 3,700 per 50kg bag in the wholesale market, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 77 per kg, while wheat flour also did not witness any change, which is being sold at Rs 760 per 20kg bag in the retail market.
The LPG is being sold at Rs 115 per kg and a domestic LPG cylinder of 15kg at Rs 1,550 per cylinder. Live chicken in the retail market is being sold at Rs 150 per kg, while chicken meat is being sold at Rs 260 per kg. Tomatoes price in the wholesale market went up by Rs 70 per 5kg from Rs 230 to Rs 300 per 5kg, which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 55 per kg. Best quality potatoes' price declined from Rs 250 to Rs 180 per 5kg, while for normal quality potatoes, the prices came down to Rs 150 from Rs 180 per 5kg.
Potatoes in the retail market are being sold at Rs 40/45 per kg against Rs 60/50 per kg. Onions price witnessed no change and it is being sold at Rs 150 per 5kg in the wholesale market, which in the retail market its rate is Rs 40 per kg. According to the survey, ginger price went up by Rs 50 per 5kg from Rs 350 to Rs 400 per 5kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 100 against Rs 90 per kg, garlic price was found stable at Rs 1,200 per 5 kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 280 per kg.
Lemon price reduced from Rs 500 to Rs 400 per 5kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 100 against Rs 120 per kg. No change was witnessed in price of brinjal, which is being sold at Rs 150 per 5kg in the wholesale market, while in the retail market it is being sold at Rs 40 per kg, carrot price reduced from Rs 350 to Rs 250 per 5kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 70 against Rs 80 per kg, cucumber price witnessed a reduction of Rs 50 per 5kg in the wholesale market from Rs 200 to Rs 150, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 40 against Rs 50 per kg.
Peas prices witnessed a further reduction from Rs 700 to Rs 600 per 5kg, which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 120 per kg against Rs 140 per kg, kadu price witnessed no change which is being sold at Rs 150 per kg in the wholesale market while in the retail market is being sold at Rs 35/40 per kg. Karaila price witnessed no change and is being sold at Rs 400 per 5 kg and in retail market it is being sold at Rs 100 per kg. Arvi price was found stable at Rs 250 per 5 kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 60 per kg.
The prices of cauliflower and cabbage witnessed a further reduction of Rs 50 per 5 kg from Rs 150 to Rs 100 in the wholesale market, which in the retail market are being sold at Rs 30 against Rs 40 per kg. Capsicum price reduced from Rs 500 to Rs 450 per 5 kg, which is being sold at Rs 90 against Rs 100 per kg and okra price was found stable at Rs 350 per 5 kg in the wholesale market, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 80 per kg.
The price of torri was found stable at Rs 300 per 5 kg, which in the retail market is being sold at Rs 70 per kg. The survey observed no change in the prices of other essential kitchen items, including rice, pulses, spices, milk and others. Dal moong is being sold at Rs 140 per kg, lobia at Rs 120 per kg, Masoor at Rs 145 per kg, dal channa at Rs 150 per kg and Kabuli channa at Rs 170 per kg.
During the said week, prices of most of the fruits witnessed a mixed trend as good quality local banana is being sold at Rs 80 per dozen, and normal quality at Rs 50 per dozen, pomegranates in the range of Rs 100 to Rs 200 per kg, guava at Rs 50/70 per kg, apples in the range of Rs 70 to Rs 250 per kg, and good quality grapes are being sold at Rs 180 per kg.
