DCO Slamna Ghani has ordered to stop the incidents of canal water theft in the district and called for actively regular monitoring of canal system by the Tehsil committees and taking immediate legal actions against the accused involved in stealing canal water. He was presiding over a meeting of District Agriculture.
Advisory Committee will review the pace of implementation on CM Kissan Package and issues of the farmers in district. He directed the Tehsil monitoring committees to check the outlets of the canal water and taking legal actions against the elements involved in breaking the outlets besides pursuing the cases against them before the courts effectively. He stressed upon comminuting the vigorous operation against the sale and produce of spurious fertilisers and pesticides.
He told that the training programs for farmers at village level should be made more effective and useful. EDO Agriculture Ch. Abdul Hameed briefed about the measures taken by the Agriculture department to facilitate the farmers and said that more than 4000 farmers have been registered for the E-credit.
He informed that the target had been fixed for sowing the wheat crops on 724000 acre land and wheat had been sown on 280000 acre so far. The representatives of farmers Mian Rehanul Haq, Ch. Nazeer Ahmad, Raja Muhammad Rasheed and others informed the meeting of their problems including shortage of canal water.
