Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) while lambasting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan said on Wednesday that not only the people but also the courts have rejected the PTI's false narrative against the government. Addressing a joint press conference, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb and Member of National Assembly (MNA) Daniyal Aziz said that the people of the country will again elect Muhammad Nawaz Sharif in 2018 elections for his development policies.
They said the government has put the country on the path of progress and development, adding that the continuity of policies is imperative for development in the country.
Aurangzeb said that those creating hurdles in the path of progress and development will not succeed in their designs. She said Prime Minister Sharif has submitted answers of all the questions in the apex court regarding the Panama papers case. She said that Imran Khan has failed to provide evidence against the Prime Minister in the court. "Imran Khan's lawyer is defending the case on the basis of Nawaz Sharif's speeches and the evidence provided by his children. PM Sharif will not resign over PTI's demand," she said. Replying to a question, the minister said the government believes that freedom of expression is imperative to take the society forward. She said that it is responsibility of the media to follow the code of conduct and media organisations should also define their own code of conduct and follow set rules and regulations.
Daniyal Aziz said that Imran Khan can no more befool the people of the country by making false statements. He said Imran should avoid creating hurdles in the path of progress and development of the country. Aziz used harsh words against Imran and said that PTI has presented a new story in the court by putting together three different speeches of the prime minister delivered on different occasions at different forums. He added, "The PTI has made up an entirely new story. Through selective reading they have taken portions of the prime minister's speech, one which he delivered in the Parliament while two others were the addresses to the nation," he said.
"The PTI has now appointed an 'actor' as a lawyer in the case. Imran says that he will make a film but no one will take interest in it as it will not be worth watching; however, the one made on Nawaz Sharif will be seen in every house," he said. The PML-N leaders declared that after the court announces its verdict in Panama case, the PTI will undergo sheer embarrassment like it had to go through in election rigging case.
About poor situation of educational institutions in the federal capital, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the present government has upgraded 100 out of 420 educational institutions in Islamabad. She added that by 2018 all the educational institutions in capital city will be upgraded and equipped with latest facilities.
The minister said that under the directives of the Prime Minister, legislation is under way for the safety and security of the journalists. She said the draft of the bill will be sent to the media houses for their input to make it more comprehensive. She said that an endowment fund will be set up for the welfare of the journalists. Aurangzeb said that the government is also focusing on the training of the journalists, adding all the available resources will be used for this purpose.
