The Punjab government is setting up Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute of international standard in Lahore for medical treatment of patients at the initial cost of Rs 4 billion during the current financial year. Planning & Development Sr Chief Co-ordination Javed Latif said this while addressing the delegation of 33 members/officers of 34th mandatory training course from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province led by Liaqat Ali Khan, Co-ordinator and Deputy Secretary Establishment, Staff Training Institute Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at the P&D Complex.
He said the provincial government remains committed to improving pace and quality of economic development in the province. He said under the Shaher-e-Khamoshan Project model graveyards in Punjab were being introduced and upgraded at the cost of Rs 200 million allocated in FY 2016-17.
A project for safe Lahore at the cost of Rs 13 billion has started to provide security and safety to the people. Additional class rooms for schoolchildren were being constructed under 15 billion package in 2016-17. Javed Latif said that total size of current annual development programme (ADP) 2016-17 was Rs 550 billion out of which Rs 265 billion has been allocated for on-going schemes while Rs 206 billion for new schemes and Rs 79 billion have been allocated for other development programmes. The Punjab government in fiscal year 2016-17 allocated Rs 72,823 billion for education sector, Rs 43,836 billion for health sector while the agriculture sector was allocated Rs 20,000 billion, he added.
