The Pakistan Vanaspati Manufacturers Association (PVMA) announced to end its ongoing strike after successful negotiations with the government representatives on Thursday. PVMA representatives led by its Chairman Izaz A Malik held talks with Punjab Food Minister Bilal Yasin, Punjab Secretary Industries and other officers.
The ghee and oil manufactures said they did not want to create hardships for the masses but hoped that the government team would soon sit with them to chalk out standard operating procedures (SOPs) for smooth running of the industry and supply to the masses. The PVMA members were on strike against raids by the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on the mills of their members and closure or imposition of fine on alleged charges of violations of rules of hygiene.
