Additional IGP Headquarters Mian Muhammad Asif retired after performing 32 years services. The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nasir Khan Durrani arranged a farewell party in his honour at Police Club Peshawar on Friday.
Those who attended were included Commandant, Frontier Constabulary (FC) Captain Liaqat Ali Khan (Retd), Additional IGP Commandant Elite Force, Syed Akhtar Ali Shah, Additional IGP Special Branch Salahuddin Mehsood, DIG FIA Peshawar Syed Basharat Hussain, CCPO, all DIGs Ranges, DIGs Headquarters, Finance, Enquiry and Inspection, AIG Establishment and other high ranking police officers.
IGP Nasir Khan Durrani while paying rich tributes to the outgoing officer said that he found Mian Muhammad Asif literally remarkable, thoroughly professional, dedicated and fully committed officer. He demonstrated the hall mark of leadership by looking after 16 units at a time. He was Additional IGP but worked like a constable without caring for status/rank and his health.
The IGP termed Mian Muhammad Asif as just like mother of the police organisation and he played that role very well to the entire satisfaction. He believed in open door policing and was accessible to all. The IGP said Main Asif was a perfectionist and put his best wholeheartedly in all assignments entrusted to him.
The IGP said that it was very difficult and painful to say good bye to the colleague served together for a long time in Punjab as well as in KP, however, added that it was a matter of great pride and honour to end government service in a happy note and wished all success in his retired life.
Mian Muhammad Asif was born in Sialkot on 3rd December 1956 and joined police service as ASP on 18th October 1984. He got his mater degrees in Political Science, Islamic Studies and LLB from Punjab University Lahore. He performed his duties as Additional IGP Headquarters, Training and Operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and DIG Training Punjab, AIG Development, Administration, Discipline, Logistic, as DPO Mianwali, Narowal, DG Khan, Attock, Khushab, Faisalabad and Gujranwala, SSP Traffic Police Gujranwala Division, SSP National Highways and Motorway Police, DIG Punjab Highway Patrol and Deputy Director Intelligence Bureau Punjab.
He has special expertise in traffic planning, design, management, training and education, change management, strategic planning, criminal investigation, process consultancy and public speaking. He qualified many national and international training courses with distinction.
He is an intellectual; as well as a prolific writer having many Urdu books to his credit ie Safar Nama, Apnoke Dermian, Khiayal Natamam, Deed and Umeed Ka Mosam. His professional publications included Moral Aspects of police training in Pakistan, Highway Safety in Pakistan and case study of pedestrian incidents. Addressing on the occasion the outgoing Additional IGP Mian Muhammad Asif delivered thought provoking speech covering all aspects of his life right from childhood to the end of his professional career depicting his personality, way of life, humanity, motto of serving and delivering with positive thinking. Such was his craze of work that he said "frankly speaking I cannot live without work". Later the IGP presented police shield and souvenir to the outgoing Additional IGP.
