A split developed in the Senate Committee on Cabinet Secretariat over the issue of allotment of 10 kanal of land plot by Capital Development Authority (CDA) to Pakistan Foreign Office Women Association and Roots Millennium School.
The committee met with Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood in the chair at the Parliament House here on Tuesday. Senators Kamil Ali Agha, Kulsoom Parveen, Mir Muhammad Yousuf Badini, Haji Saifullah Khan Bangash, Nawabzada Saifullah Magsi, Khushbakht Shujat, Raheela Magsi, Shahi Syed, Mayor Islamabad and Chairman CDA Sheikh Ansar Aziz, officials of the ministries of capital administration and development division (CADD) and foreign affairs participated in the meeting.
Kamal Ali Agha, Kulsoom Parveen, Yousuf Badini and Haji Saifullah Khan Bangash staged a walkout from the proceedings of committee in protest against the allotment of the plot of 10 kanal in charity to Pakistan Foreign Office Women Association. They said the wives of the officers of Foreign Office have made an NGO that is looting the people in the name of charity.
Kamal Ali Agha said that the plot is being given to an education institution which is being run on commercial basis. He said that such private schools are charging high fees, even in dollars. He said, "Such private schools are not charitable organizations. Our objection is that the poor people should not be deprived of their rights in the name of charity."
Chairman CDA Sheikh Ansar Aziz said the CDA board had approved the allotment of the plot and it is a joint venture of Pakistan Foreign Office Women Association and Roots Millennium School.
Kamal Ali Agha said that the CDA board approved illegal allotment and its decision is against the law, adding that the board is misguiding the mayor. Haji Saifullah Khan Bangash said that he is ready to purchase the plot even if the price is in billions of rupees and build a school, which will provide free education.
Senators Shahi Syed, Khushbakht Shujat and Raheela Magsi supported the construction of a school at the said plot. They added if the CDA and the Foreign Office are not violating the law then the school should be built. The committee also discussed the "The Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad (Amendment) Bill, 2016." The committee chairman gave 15 days to the ministry of CADD and law ministry to submit its reports on the bill. The committee also discussed the issue of shifting the industries from I-9 and I-10 to other zones of Islamabad.
