Bilateral political consultations between Pakistan and Latvia were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador Zaheer A. Janjua, Additional Secretary (Europe), led the Pakistan side while the Latvian delegation was headed by Andrejs Pildegovics, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two sides, while undertaking a comprehensive review of bilateral ties and interaction at international fora, agreed to enhance their bilateral co-operation and collaboration at the United Nations and other multilateral platforms, the Foreign Office said on Wednesday. Both sides also had a detailed exchange of views on regional and international issues of importance.
The State Secretary also called on Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs. The Adviser underscored the need for further strengthening the economic and trade relations as well as active collaboration in the educational and technical fields. The State Secretary visited the Pakistan's Centre of Excellence on Nuclear Security, Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority and Nuclear Medicine Oncology & Radiotherapy Institute, apart from a meeting with Chairman of the Institute of Strategic Studies, Islamabad.
