The Karachi Port handled 102,022 tonnes of cargo comprising 69,518 tonnes of import cargo and 32,504 tonnes of export cargo including 5,662 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 69,518 tonnes comprised of 44,039 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,741 tonnes of general cargo; 10,336 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 3,500 tonnes of coal; 6,836 tonnes of DAP and 12,402 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 32,504 tonnes comprised of 24,688 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,016 tonnes of loose bulk cement and 1,800 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 5,662 containers comprising of 2,960 containers import and 2,702 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 1,255 of 20's and 1,369 of 40's loaded while 62 of 20's and 246 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,017 of 20's and 337 of 40's loaded containers while 366 of 20's and 524 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Hyundai Singapore, Cosco Boston, Torvancer, Willet, Dong A Glaucos and Leo Ocean carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle and coal respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. OOCL California, CSCL Sydney, Nave Polaris, Serengeti, Al Dasma, Dong A Glaucos, Mohar, Pindos and Jinfa carrying containers, oil tankers, vehicle, cement, coal and general cargo currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Cosco Sao Paulo and ER Maden carrying containers and DAP respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday. There were four vessels Venice Bridge, MT Karachi, Itami and Ocean Victory carrying containers, oil tanker, steel and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday while eight vessels viz. Al Abdali, Hyundai Long Beach, Royal Crystal-7, Ardmore Dauntless, Pacific Legend, Manna, Johann Oldendorff and African Turaco carrying containers, chemical, DAP, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Friday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 127,809 tonnes comprising 81,962 tonnes of import cargo and 45,847 tonnes of export cargo inclusive 4,204 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 81,962 tonnes includes 24,930 tonnes of furnace oil; 13,300 tonnes of palm oil; 5,280 tonnes of slag; 2,536 tonnes of LPG; 1,737 tonnes of project cargo; 150 tonnes of chemical and 34,029 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 45,847 tonnes includes 45,847 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,204 containers comprising of 1,791 containers import and 2,413 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were three ships namely CV MSC Albany, MV Chintana Naree and MT Eco Glaxy carrying containers, slag and LPG respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two ships namely MT Black Pearl and MT Maritime Dinar carrying furnace oil and palm oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV MSC Albany, CV Northern Jamborne, MV Imari, MV Chintana Naree, MT Eco Glaxy, MT Rise Fortune, MT Black Pearl and MT Maritime Dinar currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, slag, chemical, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as twelve ships namely CV Maipo, MV Genuine Hercules, MV Ginga Panther, MT Globe Tanya, MT Senna Princess, MT Nave Rigel, MT Harmony, MT Pvt Athend, MT Lion-M, MT Bunga Almanda, MT SC Belhal and MT Chemroad Haya carrying containers, chemical, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Thursday.
There were three vessels viz. CV Maipo, MV Genuine Hercules and MT SC Belhal carrying containers, chemical and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal Gas Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were five ships namely CV Al Khor, MV Belle Masuka, MT Senna Princess, MT Maran Gas Delfi and MT Al Dasma carrying containers, fertilizer, LPG, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
