The Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa launched toll-free Bolo Help Line 0800 22227 against gender-based violence and social injustice. The launch event ceremony was held in Peshawar on December 08, 2016. Minister for Irrigation, Social Welfare, Special Education and Women Empowerment Sikandar Hayat Sherpao was the chief guest on the occasion.
While addressing the ceremony, he pledged his full support to eliminate gender-based violence and social injustice against women. He further claimed that this initiative of KPK Government is a milestone in the struggle against social violence in KPK. Distinguished guests from various segments of society attended the event and appreciated the efforts of KPK Government. Representatives from Trocaire and ACT were also present on the event.
Australian High Commissioner for Pakistan Margaret Adamson addressed the ceremony and shared her remarks that gender-based violence issue is global in nature, it also prevails in Australia but we have to combat it for good governance and productivity. This Toll Free Help Line is initially launched in five districts including Mardan, Noshera, Swat, Swabi and Abbotabad and will further be expanded to other districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.-PR
