To express deep grief and sorrow over the unfortunate plane crash in Pakistan, the Muslim community in Sri Lanka arranged a "Funeral Prayer in Absentia" for the victims of the incident, after Jummah Prayer at Dewatgha Mosque, Colombo. Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) aircraft was crashed while heading to Islamabad from Chitral on 7th December 2016, killing all 48 passengers on board.
The High Commissioner of Pakistan in Sri Lanka, Major General Syed Shakeel Hussain (R) attended the Absentee Funeral Prayer along with officers of the High Commission. The participants of the funeral expressed their deep condolences for the families of those who have lost their lives in this unfortunate incident. They conveyed their sympathies and prayers for the bereaved families.
