The Syndicate of Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar has approved the affiliation of various academic programmes of different health institutions of the province. The 23rd Syndicate meeting of KMU Peshawar was held under the chairmanship of VC Professor Dr Muhammad Hafizullah at the university on Friday.
Besides, Registrar Professor Dr Muhammad Saleem, Director AA&QA Professor Dr Muhammad Ilyas Saeedi, Deans of different faculties, heads of various institutes, representatives of Lecturers, Assistant Professors, Associated Professors, Professors and Administrative Officers and nominees of the Secretaries of Health, Establishment, Higher Education and Finance Departments attended the meeting.
According to details, the meeting approved affiliation for Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), BS Medical Lab Technology (MLT), BS Radiology, BS Anesthesia, BS Nursing programmes of North West Institute of Health Sciences, BS Cardiology and BS Anesthesia for Rahman College of Allied Health Sciences and DPT programmes for Women Institute of Rehabilitation Sciences and Pakistan Education Foundation.
The Syndicate also gave approval to the affiliation of Udhyana Institute of Medical Sciences Abbottabad for MLT, Premier Institute of Health Management Sciences for BS Health Technology and BS MLT, NCS University System for BS Radiology, Mahboob College of Physical Rehabilitation TDPT, Ahmad Institute of Medical Sciences DPT, BS Radiology and BS MLT Programmes.
The meeting endorsed the vision of the university which mentioned that "KMU to be a centre of excellence in academics and research in basic, clinical and allied health sciences and serve as a repository for comprehensive health policy and practice of evidence based medicine to help implement an deficient and compassionate health care system at national level", where as the mission statement of the university stated that "KMU nurtures competence through learning and innovation to prepare visionary leaders across all fields to optimise health and healthcare of individuals and communities".
On the recommendation of Academic Council the meeting also approved the annual academic calendar of the university and the participants hoped that the KMU administration will ensure implementation of the academic calendar with true spirit. Besides, approval of the appointment of Treasurer and Assistant Director P&D, the Syndicate also approved appointments against various posts of professors, associate professors, assistant professors, lectures, demonstrators and teaching assistants.
