Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) would spend Rs 83.76 million on two projects at its Emergency Services Academy at Thokar Niaz Baig. The projects include a Jamia Masjid and Western Road of the Academy which would be completed at a cost of Rs 44.770 million and Rs 38.99 million, respectively.
This was revealed at a briefing during the foundation laying ceremony of the projects. Director General Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122), Dr Rizwan Naseer laid down the foundation stone. Director General Emergency Service Academy (ESA), Brig(r) Amir Hamza and Registrar Dr Muhammad Farhan Khalid were also present on the occasion. The ESA Planning Officer Nasir Hassan and XEN Building Engr. Asmat Sharif Dehlon briefed the Director General on both projects and assured that both projects would be completed in predetermined time.
The Director General said that after construction the Western road would provide direct approach to Multan Road and Motorways that would enhance the response time of Disaster Response Force (DRF) in case of major emergencies and disasters. He said the road would also provide easy access to the new highly specialized snorkels vehicles which were difficult to enter into Emergency Services Academy due to narrow passage under the motorways.
