The federal cabinet on Thursday deferred agenda items of the meeting to discuss the prevailing political situation in the country and the four demands of Pakistan People's Party. Sources said the government faced stiff resistance from its allies to the proposal of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) reforms package presented to the cabinet on the recommendations of the committee.
Minister for Housing Akram Khan Durrani of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) raised serious reservations over the recommendations of the committee on FATA reforms. Pukhtoonkhwa Milli Awami Party also said to have been against the proposal regarding FATA reforms package, which has now been delayed for further consultations, according to the minister of state for information.
The federal cabinet reportedly discussed in detail how to deal with the growing criticism on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif as well as four demands of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). The government also discussed the option to contact the PPP over latter's demands. According to sources, the point of view of the majority of the member was against any confrontation with the opposition in Parliament, primarily because it would not accrue any benefit to the ruling party.
