Palm launches tiny smartphone to accompany regular phones

A new gadget brand has launched a tiny phone that will serve as a companion to your iOS or Android smartphones.

Palm, a gadget brand mostly known for its personal digital assistants (PDA) has designed a small travel-sized phone to serve as a companion to the regular smartphones, minimizing their use and letting users focus on ‘what’s in front of you and stay present during life’s most important moments’.

Though the almost credit card-sized phone is available on the markets yet, but as per The Verge, it’ll soon be available for buying in November costing $350. The idea for Palm phone is to work as an option to leave the normal smartphone at home, and serving an on-to-go version of smartphone and act as tool to combat app addiction.

The phone, as explained by Business Insider, is an Android phone that syncs with users’ regular smartphone, either iOS or Android, where both the devices can share the same number and both of them can receive calls, text messages and other alerts. However, the phone is only available for use on Verizon network and users will have to pay a monthly charge of $10 extra to connect the Palm to the carrier’s network, wrote CNET.

Palm phone runs on a single SIM and has a quality 12MP camera on the front and 8MP on the back, allows users to install apps from Google Play Store and also talk to Google Assistant. As per the company, the battery life of the phone can last about eight hours, but the phone can last all day on a feature known as ‘Life Mode’ that will filter out calls and notifications when the screen is turned off.

“Palm isn’t a replacement for your primary smartphone, it’s a fully connected companion that is in-sync with your primary device, making mobile truly mobile again,” reads Palm’s website, as quoted by Time.
