Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif while inaugurating Greater Iqbal Park on Saturday showed resolve that his government would continue with determination its endeavor of national development till Allama Iqbal's dream of modern state is accomplished.
Addressing inauguration ceremony of Greater Iqbal Park he said, "We felt blessed of having the opportunity to execute the dream of Allama Iqbal. My government has tackled all 3 major challenges of terrorism, economic revival and deliverance from energy crisis", he added. Prime Minister stated, however, people should question previous rulers for their negligence regarding power crisis that dragged the country into darkness.
Accompanied by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other leaders of his party, prime minister unveiled plaque to open the facility that would provide a unique entertainment opportunity to the people. He stated that this project had significant place in country's history and culture. Spread over 120 acres, Greater Iqbal Park is almost surrounded by the old city of Lahore and located very close to Minar-e-Pakistan monument , Mausoleum of Allama Iqbal, Walled City and Lahore Fort.
Nawaz Sharif in his address told that Rs 7 billion had been spent on up gradation of railways in the country. He said work would be completed on Sukkhur-Multan Motorway by the year 2019. He dilated that now it takes 8 hours only to reach Gawadar from Quetta. He said provision of cheap electricity to the nation is their target. Addressing the ceremony, Nawaz Sharif told that record development projects were being executed in Balochistan including a vast network of roads to link the province with rest of the country as well as Central Asia and China. He said motorway network that could not go ahead from Lahore since 1998 was now being extended to Karachi as work on its various sections was underway.
