Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has issued the figures of cotton arrival up to December 15th,2016. Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 1,01,47,941 bales have reached ginneries across Pakistan, showing an increase of 12.33 per cent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 90,34,118 bales.
According to the 6th fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued here, Chairman of PCGA Dr Jeso Mal,former Chairman Shehzad Ali Khan and group Chairman Haji Muhammad Akram briefed the media about cotton production and told that out of the total arrivals, 10.1 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far. Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 64,44,847 bales with increase of 19.38 percent.
Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 3,703,094 bales while comparing to last year it was recorded an increase of merely 1.86 percent. Textile mills have bought 84,51,386 bales while exporters bought 1,94,844 bales, while 15,01,711 bales are lying unsold.
Multan received 2,81,687 bales with 137.74 percent increase comparing to last year, Lodhran 1,81,247 bales 112.87 percent increase, Khanewal 5,57,510 bales 49.67 percent increase, Muzaffargarh 3,04,949 bales increase of 28.58 percent, Dera Ghazi Khan 3,26,662 increase of 15.37 percent, Rajanpur 3,30,004 bales, 17.33 percent decrease, Layyah 2,60,776, 9.13 percent increase, Vehari 3,66,079 bales 23.56 percent increase, Sahiwal 2,02,213 bales 14.11 percent less than last year, Pakpattan 40,803 bales 38.62 percent less, Okara 19,086 with 13.63 percent less ,Toba Tek Singh 1,51,880 bales, Faisalabad 35,830 bales 25.16 percent less than last year, Jhang 30,102 showing decrease of 26.51 percent, Mianwali 2,52,538 a decrease of 11.90 percent, Bhakkar 61,427 with 20.93 percent less, Sargodha 9,760 as 12.07 percent less, Rahimyar Khan 10,82,474 bales merely 6.09 percent increase, Bahawalpur 9,15,185 an increase of 35.08 percent,and Bahawalnagar 10,27,406 with an increase of 38.50 percent.
In Sindh: Hyderabad 2,26,665 bales 7.75 percent less than last year,Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,69,441 bales 0.77 percent less, Sangarh,12,21,575 bales 7.20 percent decrease, Nawabshah 3,20,146 bales 3.83 percent increase, Naushero Feroze 3,30,804 bales 19.01 percent increase, Khairpur 2,82,108 bales 12.02 percent increase, Ghotki 2,94,594 bales 0.22 percent increase, Sukkur 5,04,579 bales 22.27 percent increase, Dadu 41,045 bsales 18.97 percent increase Jamshoro 1,10,236 bales 17.12percent less ,Badeen 27,027 bales 14.47 percent less and Baluchistan 74,874 bales showing an increase of 32,31 percent.
Total 520 ginning factories are operational in the country. 359 of them are in Punjab and 161 in Sindh.
