Punjab Governor Rafiq Rajwana has said that the politicians should give top priority to the national agenda in order to rapid development and progress of the Pakistan for which present government was working in right directions for the strengthening of social and economic sectors and completion of public welfare projects.
He stated this while addressing to the 7th convocation ceremony of GC University held at new campus. Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Muhammad Ali, members of Parliament Haji Akram Ansari, Haji Ilyas Insari, Dr Najma Afzal, Rai Usman Khara, faculty members, students and their parents were present in the ceremony. Governor Punjab congratulated the successful students and their parents and said that the future of the country was in the hands of educated youngsters and the responsibility of the youngsters had been increased manifold to serve the country.
He emphasised upon the degree holders to utilise their skills and knowledge for serving the deprived people and to pay back their country by working hard in different fields. The governor said that provision of social justice was the prime responsibility of the government and the present government was acting upon the provision of facilities of education, health, clean drinking water and other needs of the public.
He said that CM Punjab Shehbaz Sharif was striving for the development and progress of the education sector and no talented students was deprived from the higher education due to the lack of resources and talented students were being very much encouraged besides giving attention on quality education.
The governor greeted the Vice Chancellor and their team for rapid development of GC University and said that this university was blessing for the students in which a large number of students had been given admission. Earlier, in his welcome address, VC Professor Dr Muhammad Ali thanked the governor for participating in the convocation and highlighted the performance of the university.
He informed that two academic blocks and two girls hostels had been completed at funds of Rs 800 million and federal government had provided funds of Rs 780 million for research. He said that Rs 300 million had been allocated as pension funds for the employees while Rs 65 million had been earmarked as Endowment Funds for providing scholarships to the deserving students.
He said that the entire electric system of new campus had been linked with solar system and the office system had been made innovative by using electronic machinery and advance technology. He informed that all the admissions were being processed through online system in the university. He also gave the details of university linkages with the industrial sectors and the other activities for promoting tolerance and interfaith harmony. On the occasion, the governor inaugurated the newly constructed Girls Hostel.
