The Karachi Port handled 131,389 tonnes of cargo comprising 113,102 tonnes of import cargo and 18,287 tonnes of export cargo including 5,788 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 113,102 tonnes comprised of 45,943 tonnes of containerised cargo; 2,788 tonnes of general cargo; 50,673 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 33,300 tonnes of coal; 11,848 tonnes of DAP; 5,525 tonnes of soyabean meal and 13,698 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. The total export cargo of 18,287 tonnes comprised of 18,064 tonnes of containerised cargo and 223 tonnes of general cargo.
As many as 5,788 containers comprising of 3,643 containers import and 2,145 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. The break-up of imported containers shows 1,697 of 20's and 924 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 49 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 490 of 20's and 187 of 40's loaded containers while 327 of 20's and 477 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely APL Oman, Hamburg Bay, X-Press Kailash, Aby SS, Mandarin China, Seacon-8 and Han Xin carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were nine vessels viz. Northern Dependant, Wide India, Hazel-1, X-Press Kailash, MT Karachi, Zemgale, Aqua Prosper, Bavand and Han Xin carrying containers, oil tankers, coal, clinker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There were two ships namely Ital Milione and Mu Mian Song carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday while two ships namely Wide India and Phoenix Nereid carrying containers and DAP respectively are expected to sail on Wednesday.
There are eight vessels viz. MOL Explorer, Batam Trader, Kota Kasturi, Athina, Amis Wisdom-1, Greener, Rickmers Antwerp and Da Hua carrying containers, mogas, coal, steel, heavy lift and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 52,221 tonnes includes 19,930 tonnes of palm oil; 1,449 tonnes of LPG; 9,290 tonnes of canola seeds; 12,020 tonnes of chemical; 1,120 tonnes of project cargo and 9,861 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 45,017 tonnes includes 33,540 tonnes of crude oil; 1,312 tonnes of cement and 10,165 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 993 containers comprising of 459 containers import and 434 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV MSC Joanna and CV Al Rawadha carrying containers sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Al Rawadha, CV MSC Joanna, MV An African, MV Da Hua, MV Infinity, MV Argent Freesia, MT Al-Rekayyat, MT Shan Song Zihe and MT Eagle Phoenix currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, Project cargo, canola seeds, chemical, LNG, palm oil and crude oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as eight ships namely CV Maersk Chicago, CV MSC Tokomo, MV Atlantic Glory, MT Harmony, MT Pvt Athend, MT Quetta, MT Brizo and MT Chemroad Sea carrying containers, chemical, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Tuesday.
There were two vessels viz. CV Maersk Chicago and CV MSC Tokomo carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Tuesday. There were eight ships namely CV Maersk Chicago, CV CMA CGM Nerval, MV Thorco Arviat, MV Atlantic Glory, MV Cash Chem Rhne, MT Maran Gas Delfi, MT Al-Dasma and MT Brizo carrying containers, project cargo, chemical, LNG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Tuesday, while another ship namely CV Maersk Surabaya carrying containers is due to arrive on Wednesday.
