The Punjab Agriculture Department has decided to implement an 'Integrated Pest Management' (IPM) technology to save the crops from pest attacks. Decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the provincial task force on agriculture which held here on Friday with Additional Secretary Agriculture Abdur Rehman Gondal in the chair. The meeting reviewed different strategies to tackle the issue of pest attack on crops including IPM technology and spray of pesticides.
The meeting was informed that IPM would help decrease the pesticide spray by lowering chances of diseases in human beings. It was also informed that the department had already initiated off-season management formula to improve cotton production and departmental laboratories were working day and night on this subject. The department would also prepare demonstration plans for 45 Tehsils of the province. Secretary Agriculture Muhammad Mahmood had directed to accelerate work on this formula.
