Kenya's oil importers buy over 420,000 tonnes oil products for February-March

Kenya's oil importers bought more than 420,000 tonnes of oil products for February to March delivery, about three percent less than in the most recent tender, trade sources said on Friday. Importers bought 205,702 tonnes of 50ppm sulphur gasoil, 93,268 tonnes of jet fuel and 127,401 tonnes of gasoline from Vivo Energy, KenolKobil and Total Kenya, they added.
The importers last bought more than 440,000 tonnes for January to early February delivery. Kenya has been importing record volumes of oil products as its economy gathers steam, soaking up some of Asia's excess supply of diesel and boosting refining margins. Industrial expansion and a growing fleet of automobiles in a region which lacks refining capacity have stoked East African appetite for oil product imports.
