Punjab Minister for Food, Bilal Yasin said the food department would not tolerate usage of blue drum for milk and dairy products across the province. He alleged that non-food graded packaging material was being used for packaging of milk and dairy products, which was hazardous for human health and life. Those who were playing with lives and health of people would be strictly punished.
He expressed these views while chairing a meeting during his visit to a private manufacturing company of food graded packaging products. Minister said that manufacturers of food packaging companies were working according to their self designed SOPs, which was unacceptable. Food department would soon start registration and regulatory mechanism of those companies manufacturing food packing materials.
Bilal Yasin said that private sector, under their corporate social responsibility, should work with public on the public welfare projects. He said that in food sector there was huge gap where private and public sector could produce positive results jointly.
