Cash basis bids for hard red winter (HRW) wheat in the southern US Plains were unchanged on Friday in quiet trade ahead of the long Christmas holiday weekend, grain merchants said. Chicago Board of Trade futures markets will close early at noon CST (1800 GMT) on Friday and will be closed on Monday for the holiday. Grain elevators will also be closed on Monday, merchants said.
Premiums for wheat shipped to and through Kansas City on Thursday were largely unchanged, but up 5 cents per bushel for grain with 11.40 percent protein, according to the latest CME data. At 9:41 pm CST (1541 GMT), K.C. March HRW wheat was down 1/4 cent at $4.07-3/4 per bushel.
