"In order to provide trained manpower to hotel industry, Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will start nine months training programme from next year. This course is being started as a pilot project with 10 teachers and 25 teachers with collaboration of PUM Netherland at Government Institute of Emerging Technologies Township."
Chairperson TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh stated this while addressing the officials of Pearl Continental, Royal Palm, Avari, Falettii's, Nishat, Park Lane, Hospitality Inn, Luxus, COTHM, X2 and other renowned hotels during a seminar here on Tuesday at TEVTA Secretariat.
Member TEVTA Board Asim Qadri, Expert PUM Netherland Osborne Green, TEVTA Officers Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Aamer Aziz, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Aisha Qazi, Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Maqsood Ahmad, Rao Rashid and other officers were present at this occasion. Chairperson TEVTA said that an advisory board has been constituted with the participation of hotel industry for the development of curricula, management of the program and monitoring.
Dutch organisation is helping to promote hospitality sector. Both organisations are committed to support economic and private sector development in general and individual small and medium sized enterprises in particular. Dutch master trainers are arriving first week of next month to train the trainees.
There will be special monitoring at the end of every month about the progress of the course and after six month we will decide to expand this course in other cities of Punjab accordingly. TEVTA has already signed a MoU with PUM Netherland in this regard. Expert PUM Netherland Osborne Green said that PUM provides business support and technical assistance to small and medium sized enterprises and TVET system through deploying senior experts, all having 30 years of business experience, as volunteer professionals during short term missions geared at transfer of knowledge and skills.
"Green said that with the usage of new technology, sharing the state of the art knowledge from our master trainers, Pakistani youth will successfully get employment opportunities at local as well as international level. Our organisation will fully support for the promotion of vocational training in Punjab," he concluded.
