Naheed Khan, former political secretary of Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, has criticised Asif Zardari for protecting his self-interest over the interests of people and country. "So much so, Zardari has decided to contest on the seat of Shaheed Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto while pushing Bilawal to the urban seat," she added.
Reacting to the outcome of PPP's public gathering at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, she said Bilawal should decide whether he wanted to become Bhutto or Zardari. "Bilawal cannot carry the Bhutto legacy by staying under control of Asif Zardari," she added. She further pointed out that baggage of corruption carried by Asif Zardari has brought the PPP at the lowest ebb.
"We had also lost 2013 elections because of him," she asserted. However, she said she was not in favour of a fight between father and son, adding that she would never ask Bilawal to disrespect his father. "What I am saying is that he should choose his own path in politics," she said.
Meanwhile, paying tribute to Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, she said December 27 has brought a sea of grief for the genuine party workers. "We have never forgotten BB but December 27 ignites our deprivation," she added. She said BB had never compromised on nuclear programme, welfare of poor people and social sector uplift. The establishment had never accepted her, an attitude that led to her death that has created a leadership gap in the country.
