A Spokesman of the Punjab Government, terming a news item published in a leading national English daily, absolutely baseless, concocted, unfounded and contrary to facts, has made it clear that the 'Saaf Pani Project' of the Punjab Government is still under process and no contract, whatsoever, has yet been awarded to any firm.
In a statement, here Tuesday, the Spokesman said that the "Saaf Pani Project as well, like all other mega projects of the Punjab Government, would be awarded sheerly on the basis of merit and would be kept transparent in every aspect of the project. He said that the Punjab government had proved in letter and spirit that merit and transparency could be the only yardstick while awarding contracts of all mega projects. He further disclosed that the bids submitted to the PSPC for phase-I in this regard were still under review and were in the process of scrutiny. The Spokesman assured that all possible measures would be taken to ensure that the dwellers of Punjab get the best values for the public money. Meanwhile, the Punjab Government has reiterated its resolve to take all possible effective measures in providing clean and safe drinking water to the denizens of Punjab.-PR
