The Karachi Port handled 126,105 tonnes of cargo comprising 112,172 tonnes of import cargo and 13,933 tonnes of export cargo including 3,631 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 112,172 tonnes comprised of 42,766 tonnes of containerised cargo; 927 tonnes of general cargo; 9,953 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 5,635 tonnes of coal; 958 tonnes of soyabean meal; 3,360 tonnes of rock phosphate and 58,526 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 13,933 tonnes comprised of 12,583 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of general cargo and 1,050 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,631 containers comprising of 2,784 containers import and 847 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 883 of 20's and 903 of 40's loaded while 01 of 20's and 47 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 441 of 20's and 149 of 40's loaded containers while 16 of 20's and 46 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely Hyundai Vancouver, Express Blacksea, MSC Nicole, KY Venus, Chemtrans-1 and Sea India carrying containers, chemical and tug respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were two vessels viz. Kota Karim and Nasco Jade carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There are two ships namely MOL Explorer and Amoy Action carrying containers and coal respectively expected to sail on Thursday. There were ten vessels viz. Cosco Haifa, Sima Giselle, Hammunia Virginia, Everrich-7, Oriental Lotus, Weser, Hong Master, Zealand Almera, Han Li and Chipolbrok Star carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, caustic soda, general cargo and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Wednesday, while three vessels viz. Batam Trader, Wan Hai-511 and MT Karachi carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.
The total import cargo of 128,476 tonnes includes 40,000 tonnes of LNG; 16,150 tonnes of diesel oil; 8,736 tonnes of canola seeds; 1,359 tonnes of LPG; 6,299 tonnes of chemical; 832 tonnes of military cargo and 55,100 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 7,600 tonnes includes 7,600 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,300 containers comprising of 2,900 containers import and 400 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely MV Alliance Fairfex carrying military cargo expected to sail on Wednesday morning, while two ships namely CV Maersk Kensington and MT Thorco Attraction carrying containers and project cargo respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of eight vessels viz. CV Maersk Kensington, CV CMA CGM Thames, MV Alliance Fairfex, MV Georgia, MT Ginga Ocelot, MT Gemini Gas, MV Al Ghashamlya and MT Bahra currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, canola seeds, chemical, LPG and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as nine ships namely CV Maersk Gibraltar, MV Mariman, MV Da Fu, MV Thorco Attraction, MT Black Purl, MT Distya Ameya, MT Harmony, MT Brizo and MT Alpine Magic carrying containers, rice, project cargo, LPG, furnace oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Wednesday.
There were four vessels viz. CV Maersk Gibraltar, MV Thorco Attraction, MV Da Fu and MV Mariman carrying containers, project cargo and rice expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal and Grains & Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Wednesday.
There were six ships namely CV San Francisco, CV MSC Busan, MV Amoy Action, MT Maran Gas Delfi, MT Al-Dasma and MT Anka carrying containers, coal, LNG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There is one ship namely CV Mehuin carrying containers due to arrive on Thursday.
