Huge amount of liquor seized during the Punjab police crackdown against drug paddlers in Multan, Gujranwala, Bhakar and Lahore, sources said on Thursday. On a tipoff, the police personnel raided an area of Kot Lakhpat and seized allegedly around 1,000 liters of liquor and arrested two accused, said the sources. The police also confiscated a chemical being used in making of the liquor, they added.
In Multan, police raided an area of Cantt and seized 13 cartons of liquor and arrested around five people. Police also conducted a raid in Baghbanpura area of Gujranwala, seizing 100 bottles of toxic liquor and arrested seven people. They also took a truck into custody, which was carrying around 12,000 bottles of toxic liquor, in Bhakar and arrested its driver. Meanwhile, the city police had increased the number of pickets to ensure security of citizens on New Year's Eve.
