The filling station owners have increased the price of compressed natural gas (CNG) in Sindh by up to Rs 3.5 per kilogram. The gas will now remain available for Rs 71 per kg. Aaj News reported on Thursday night that the decision evoked stiff opposition from the consumers who foresee rise in public transport fares due to CNG price hike.
The city transporters are said to have threatened to increase the fares of public transport. On December 20, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Resources had approved the deregulation of prices of the CNG, following which the station owners were authorised to set their own prices. The price was soared after that deregulation.
