Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Thursday demanded the government to apprise the nation of the objectives achieved through military courts, besides clearing its position on giving further extension as the sunset clause will end on January 07 next year. In a statement issued here, PTI Spokesman Fawad Chaudhry said that before giving further extension to military courts, the masses should be told about the measures taken by the government to improve the existing justice system.
"The decision to establish parallel judiciary was taken in All Parties Conference (APC) so there is a need to know what purpose was achieved through courts and why we need any further extension," he added. He said that after consultation with other opposition parties, the PTI will make its final decision in this regard, adding the government should clarify its position what is the need to extend the military courts any further.
Meanwhile, the PTI is all set to enforce discipline within its ranks, especially after four of its MNAs refused to abide by party decision and attended the session when the party boycotted the Parliament in wake of Panama Leaks. Talking to Business Recorder, the PTI Central Information Secretary, Naeemul Haq said that strict disciplinary action will be taken against those MNAs who attended the National Assembly after it had been decided that no member would attend the NA session unless Supreme Court decides Panama Leaks case. "We're going to convene the meeting of the disciplinary committee next week where it will be decided what action could be taken against the members who violated the party decision," he added. He said, "We went through every clause of the Constitution, but found no way out to disqualify them," adding now the party disciplinary committee will decided what action could be taken against these members.
A statement issued by the party central secretariat said that the membership of 10 persons from Khoshab including former district Nazim Khoshab Ahsan Tiwana, has been suspended. "The suspension orders have been issued by regional president Amir Mehmood Kiyani. Furthermore, chairmen of several union councils have also been suspended including Safdar Awan, Raza Khan, Hassan Salhal, Azmat Abbas, Mansab Dori, Ali Hussain, Javaid Aalam Sagu, Maroof Laal and Ahsan Qadeer Majoka. These members were accused of breeching party's discipline in the last round of local bodies election in Punjab," it added.
