An elderly woman died while 10 others were wounded when fire erupted in the hotel located near Rawal Dam Chowk on Thursday morning. According to police, the fire broke out due to electricity short-circuit in a room of the hotel and the people who were present at the place left the room after noticing the fire. The smoke engulfed the other rooms of the hotel, which resulted in the death of Almas Fatima, 60, a resident of Karachi, and wounding 10 others, the Police sources added.
Soon after receiving information, personnel of police and fire brigade rushed towards the hotel to put out the fire. The police shifted the dead body and the injured to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for medico-legal formalities and treatment. The injured were discharged after provision of necessary treatment, hospital sources said. On the other hand, five rooms of the hotel were damaged due to fire which was doused by two vehicles of fire brigade. Police were trying to contact the heirs of the deceased till filing of this report.
