General Tariq Khan (retd) on Monday strongly rejected the allegations levelled by veteran politician Javed Hashmi about his alleged involvement in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) dharna in Islamabad in 2014.
While talking exclusively to Aaj TV's show 'Faisla Apka", Khan termed Hashmi's charges 'illogical and childish'.
Khan said he doesn't know Hashmi personally and never met him or any other politician during his service in army, adding that for the past two and a half years Hashmi has been falsely accusing every one.
He questioned 'how can a sitting chief justice allow a core commander to dissolve parliament?'
On a question related to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's meeting with the then Army Chief General Raheel Sharif during the dharna in Islamabad, Khan said that it was the prime minister who asked the army chief to intervene and resolve the weeks long protest by PTI in the capital.
Khan said that if Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) was allegedly involved in the 2014 protest then a proper investigation should be carried out after a consensus between the government and army.
The retired general said he was ready to meet Hashmi and remove misunderstandings about his alleged involvement in the matter.
Hashmi on a TV show had accused the PTI chief Imran Khan of conspiring against the government during the sit-in because 'he had failed to win enough votes in the election'.
