The Punjab Agriculture Department (PAD), following the restoration of Deputy Commissioner System in the province, has also introduced changes in its administrative system at the district level. According to the information released on Monday, the department has renamed 19 executive district officers (Agriculture) of the province as director agriculture (extension) while 36 district officers have been named as deputy director agriculture (extension).
Moreover, 127 deputy district officers will now be called as assistant director agriculture (extension). The director general agriculture (extension) will be the controlling officer of all these officers under the new set-up. The department has been restored its position of 1999 and also restored its district directorates.
A spokesman of the department hoped that this new administrative set-up will further improve the performance of the department and would be able to guide the growers more effectively.
