The Karachi Port handled 388,166 tonnes of cargo comprising 307,322 tonnes of import cargo and 80,844 tonnes of export cargo including 8,719 loaded and empty containers during the last 48 hours ending at 0700 hours on Monday.
The total import cargo of 307,322 tonnes comprised of 154,610 tonnes of containerised cargo; 32,066 tonnes of general cargo; 35,557 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 18,300 tonnes of coal; 3,511 tonnes of soyabean meal; 13,746 tonnes of rock phosphate and 85,099 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 80,844 tonnes comprised of 53,643 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of general cargo and 26,901 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
As many as 8,719 containers comprising of 6,164 containers import and 2,555 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 2,062 of 20's and 2,026 of 40's loaded while 26 of 20's and 12 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 464 of 20's and 285 of 40's loaded containers while 591 of 20's and 465 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were twelve ships namely Cosco Wellington, MSC Positano, Taroko, Hammonia Virginia, Al Farahidi, YM Enlightenment, Walleye, MT Karachi, Nautical Alice, Han Li, Nasco Jade and Chiplobrok Star carrying containers, oil tankers, meal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were eleven vessels viz. Cosco Haifa, MSC Positano, Prosper, Hyundai Oakland, Wan Hai-511, Al Farahidi, Citron, MT Lahore, Lia, Hong Master and BBC Bulgaria carrying containers, oil tankers, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
There was one ship namely Chang Hang Hao Hai carrying general cargo sailed out to sea on Monday, while two ships namely Wan Hai-511 and CMA CGM Puget carrying containers are expected to sail on Tuesday.
There were two vessels viz. BBC Vela and Han Xin carrying general cargo respectively due to arrive on Monday, while six vessels viz. KMTC Mumbai, Northern Dependant, MT Shalamar, Zhen Hua-10, Apiradee Naree and Ocean Success carrying containers, oil tanker, crane, coal and general cargo respectively are due to arrive on Tuesday.
As many as 3,200 containers comprising of 1,600 containers import and 1,600 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Monday.
There were two ships namely MV Georgia-T and MT Alpine Magic carrying bulk cargo and oil tanker respectively expected to sail on Monday morning, while three ships namely CV Safmarine Nyassa, CV Newark and MT Bunga Azalea carrying containers and oil tanker respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Safmarine Nyassa, CV Newark, MV Mariman, MV Amoy Action, MV Georgia-T, MT Bunga Azalea, MT Igic Anka, MT Maria-III and MT Alpine Magic currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, canola seeds, LPG, palm oil and diesel oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as four ships namely CV MSC Silvana, MT El-Kadel, MT Bochem Chennani and MT Bahra carrying containers, palm oil and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim on Monday.
There were four vessels viz. CV MSC Silvana, CV Al-Bahia, MV Glory Navigator and MT Brizo carrying containers, canola seeds and furnace oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Grains & Fertilizer Terminal and FOTCO Oil Terminal respectively on Monday.
There was one ship namely MV Malta carrying chemical due to arrive on Monday while another ship namely CV Maersk Stepnica carrying containers is due to arrive on Tuesday.
