The Lahore High Court Chief Justice said that total number of cases pending before the LHC and its benches till December 24 stands at 140,837. The CJ said the LHC has shown a positive trend of disposal of cases. He said the LHC and its benches have disposed of 57,784 cases from 28 June 2016 to 24 December 2016 and district judiciary disposed of 808,761 cases from June 30, 2016, to November 30, 2016.
Talking to media persons on Thursday, Chief Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah said a new case management plan is going to be launched at the Lahore High Court and district judiciary of Punjab from next week. He said a three-month target has been set for 36 districts. The performance of the judges would be attached with the fulfilment of the target.
Justice Shah said a transfer policy for the district judiciary judges was also being prepared to avert unnecessary delay in disposal of cases. He said bifurcation of civil and criminal cases, hearing of cases by special courts and ADR techniques would help achieve the target at the district judiciary. The Chief Justice further observed that three months target plan has also been set for different departments of LHC administration to check their performance. An audit department is also being established at the LHC.
