Foreign Office on Thursday expressed deep concern over the Indian attempts of demographic change in the Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, urging the international community to take notice of the violation of the internal laws by the Indian government.
Talking to media persons on the sidelines of a two-day international seminar organised in connection with the Right to Self-determination Day, Foreign Office spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said that Pakistan will forcefully raise the Indian attempt to convert the Muslim majority into a minority in the occupied Jammu and Kashmir through the attempt to change the demography of Kashmir.
"We condemn such measures as complete violation of international law and UN Security Council Resolutions and call upon India to desist from taking any action that could alter the demography of IOK," he added. He also called for holding an international inquiry into the abuses committed by Indian troops against the people of occupied Kashmir, adding there is also a need for a probe into the discovery mass graves in the IOK which is a serious issue. Zakaria said that India is violating the international norms by subjecting people of the IOK to violence, pellet gun shelling, and other injustices, adding use of torture against innocent children and youth is condemnable.
To a question, he also deplored preventing the Kashmiri leaders from the IOK to participate in the seminar, saying the Indian government did not allow the Kashmir leaders to travel to Pakistan. He further said that the continued detention of the Kashmir leaders is also unfortunate and the world community should take notice of the illegal detention of the Kashmir leaders and thousands others youth. To another question about the dossier related to activities of the arrested Indian spy Kulbhushan Yadav, he said that the dossier on Indian involvement in subversive activities has already been finalised and will be submitted to the UN chief very soon.
