The country's total liquid foreign reserves declined by $122 million during the last week mainly due to payment of external debt. According to State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), the country's total liquid foreign exchange reserves stood at $23.164 billion as on December 30, 2016, compared to $23.286 billion as on December 23, 2016.
During the period under review reserves held by SBP fell $30.5 million to $18.269 billion end of the week down from $18.299 billion a week earlier. Banks' foreign exchange reserves also witnessed downward trend and decreased by $92 million to $4.895 billion end of the last week.
