Prices of important kitchen items, including pulses, vegetables, sugar, rice, chicken, remained changed in the retail market as no significant increase or decrease was witnessed during the preceding week as compared to the last week, according to a survey conducted by Business Recorder here on Sunday.
The survey indicated that one kilogram good quality rice was available at Rs 100 while price of toota rice was Rs50/kg. Similarly, Dal mash was being sold at Rs 180/kg, Dal masoor (Rs 140/kg) and Dal channa (Rs 170/kg).
Sugar price also remained stable in the retail market as it was available at Rs 65/kg. However, the prices of gram flour (baisen) shot up from Rs 140/kg to Rs 170/kg in retail market.
The survey further showed that Dal green priced at Rs 140/kg, big kabali white channa was available at Rs 160/kg as against its preceding week's price of Rs 170. Prices of red bean ranged between Rs 110 and Rs 120/kg, while white lobiya was available at Rs 120/kg and moonge at Rs 140/kg.
Besides, the process of ghee/cooking oil of different brands and companies also remained stable in retail market as their prices ranged between Rs 140, Rs 155 and Rs 170 per kg/litre.
The prices of mostly used kitchen items - garlic and ginger - jumped in the retail market as they were being sold at Rs400/kg and Rs200/kg, respectively.
The survey also indicated that prices of tomato declined by 50 per cent as it was being sold at Rs50/kg as against its preceding week's price of Rs 100/kg. The prices of onion ranged between Rs30 and Rs20/kg in retail market.
The prices of potatoes also remained unchanged as the red potato was available for Rs40/kg and white potato at Rs20/kg. Peas were being sold at Rs 150/kg, arvi at Rs70/kg, capsicum (Rs 100/kg), turnip (Rs20/kg, cucumber (Rs40/kg) and calabash (Rs50/kg).
The survey also indicated that one kilogram chicken priced at Rs 126 in retail market, while prices of a dozen of farm eggs ranged between Rs 130 and Rs 140 in retail market. Cow meat was being sold at Rs340/kg, while mutton was available at Rs700/kg.
However, fruits were being sold at high price, as one kilogram golden apple was being sold at Rs200, while the prices of red apple ranged between Rs 100 and Rs80/kg. Guava was being sold at Rs50/kg, pomegranate's prices ranged between Rs 120 and Rs 100/kg while prices of banana ranged between Rs50 and Rs40/dozen in retail market.
