Leaders of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lashed out at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), saying both parties have failed in submitting any proof against Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his family.
Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Prime Minister's Spokesman Dr Musadiq Malik and Member National Assembly Daniyal Aziz rejected the PTI's claim that the prime minister is seeking immunity.
They said the PTI and JI have failed in proving their allegations against the Prime Minister in the apex court in the Panama paper case, adding as per law the onus of providing evidence lies on the accuser.
He said the prime minister has voluntarily presented himself and his family for accountability. Musadiq said that Article 66 is the right of the Parliament and even the Prime Minister has no authority to deprive any parliamentarian of his/her rights.
He said the Supreme Court will decide the case according to the Constitution, law and facts available on record, not on the basis of wishes and allegations hurled by Imran Khan and Sirajul Haq.
Daniyal Aziz said the Prime Minister and his family have presented all required proofs before the court, besides money trail of London flats.
He said that Khan's malicious campaign has exposed him before the nation. "We have provided all proofs before the apex court as per directives, while the entire money trail record couldn't be presented in the court within quarter of an hour," he remarked.
He said the Prime Minister time and again has said that he will respect whatsoever decision the apex court delivers, adding the Supreme Court takes decisions as per Constitution and not as per desires of a person. For presenting 37-year-old record, the entire nation will have to go 37 years back, he added.
Aziz said the chairman PTI is doing all this for his lust for power, adding the PTI didn't submitted additional proofs in the court. Money trail is there in the shape of bank guarantee, while the PTI counsels are taking u-turn after u-turn and the party must shun this negative politics and play an active role in the development of the country, especially in bringing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa at par with the developed parts of the country, he added.
He said that Khan hurled allegations at the Prime Minister, but he did not present any evidence before the court in the Panama papers case, adding that evidence which the PTI had presented during press conferences and TV talk shows cannot be presented before the court as evidence.
He said that Khan had already submitted and tendered an apology in the foreign funding case before the Election Commission of Pakistan and soon he will submit and tender an apology in the Supreme Court.
