The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) on Tuesday sealed cafeterias of three hospitals and imposed heavy fine on others on the charges of violating rules of hygiene and selling substandard food items.
Different field formations of the Authority sealed canteen of Kot Khawaja Saeed Hospital for not having manufacturing and expiry date on burger bun, poor cleanliness, open dirty drains, spider webs and not having a license to run food business from the Authority. While Allied & Company cafeteria being run in Mayo Hospital was also sealed for not following the directives issued in an earlier check and poor cleanliness. The team also wasted 35 kilograms of rotten fruits and 25 litters of sweet sauce. The same team also sealed the kitchen of Children Ward of the same hospital and tanoor of King Edward Medical University.
Zam Zam Café of Jinnah Hospital was imposed Rs 5,000 fine, Sheikh Zaid's canteen was given a fine of Rs 3,000, Bismillah Juice Corner of Child Ward of Mayo Hospital received a fine of Rs 7,000, canteen of Anmol Hospital got a challan of fine Rs 3,000, main cafeteria of Doctors Hospital was imposed a fine of Rs 15,000, Bismillah Food stall of the same hospital was fined Rs 13,000 and another food outlet of the same hospital was imposed a fine of Rs 2,000 by the PFA teams.
