Chief Justice of Lahore High Court Syed Mansoor Ali Shah Wednesday dismissed a petition of Shama Begum requesting for permission to get change gender of her 24 years old daughter Ayesha Shafique.
Chief Justice observed that the petitioner was not an affected party, her daughter was grown up and could herself approach a court for redress of her grievance The petitioner had submitted that her daughter was experiencing extremely painful bouts owing to her changing gynecological features. She had said that Ayesha was admitted to a hospital where doctors conducted several medical examination tests.
She had pointed out that several ultrasounds and examination confirmed her daughter was undergoing sexual transition and needed urgent care. But the doctors refused to do so fearing legal action against them. She sought directions from Punjab health secretary to ensure smooth transition of her daughter to a boy.
