The leaders of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) have claimed that Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has failed to achieve his desired objectives in the Panamagate case on the basis of 'false and fabricated' allegations.
Addressing a joint press conference here on Thursday, Special Assistant to Prime Minister Musadik Malik and Member National Assembly (MNA) Daniyal Aziz said the PTI has not produced any solid proof before the Supreme Court in the Panamagate case.
They said that newspaper cuttings and hypothetical statements are no evidence to prove that someone is guilty. They accused Khan of hiding his assets and said he lied while submitting his papers with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for contesting elections in 2002.
They said the PTI failed to prove its allegations and the party is trying to escape the same case in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
Malik said the chairman PTI has made his case on the basis of assumptions and newspapers clippings, while the courts ask for solid proofs, which the PTI so far has failed to produce before the Supreme Court.
He said as per PML-N lawyer's arguments in the court, the Prime Minister is cleared of all the charges while the party will submit other required documents in the apex court as well.
Speaking on the occasion, Aziz said the chairman PTI is actually deceiving the entire nation by his negative politics as he is pursuing the policy of u-turn by issuing different hollow statements in the Parliament and the apex court.
He said that Khan has been levelling unfounded accusations on the Prime Minister and his family without any proof or evidence.
Aziz said the chairman PIT is responsible for concealment of assets and telling lies before the nation regarding tax evasion, adding that he is blaming others but the conscious people of Pakistan are cognisant of the fact who is right and who is wrong.
He said that Khan is asking for immunity from the ECP as he is afraid of his own character, adding that he will have to reap what he is sowing.
Aziz said the PTI has not even produced single evidence before the apex court, adding that in response to the PTI's allegations against the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family, the PML-N has produced the documents before the court and more documents will be submitted, if needed, he added.
He said that Khan does not even know the basics of accountability, predicting that he would soon tender an apology before the Supreme Court.
He said the chairman PTI has passed several contradictory statements about Bani Gala land purchase deal and is now seeking immunity from hearing to hide details from the ECP in the reference filed against him.
He said that Imran Khan and Jehangir Tareen had challenged the references against them in the ECP on the basis of maintainability and jurisdiction.
He said the ECP has rejected the plea of Khan for immunity and asked both of them to provide evidence. He mentioned Khan's contradictory statements on the media and later his reply submitted before the ECP about purchase of 300-acre Bani Gala property.
On the occasion, the PML-N leaders mentioned different statements of Khan with regard to his property in Bani Gala and establishment of offshore company in 1983, adding Khan and Tareen consider their offshore companies as legal while of others as illegal.
Aziz said firstly Khan claimed that he had bought the property with the money acquired from sale of a flat in London, while before the ECP he said that he could not sell the London flat and took money as a gift from his former wife Jemima Khan to purchase Bani Gala land.
He said that Khan is always flanked by Tareen who traded shares on stock exchange in the name of his gardener. He said that Nawaz Sharif is the popular leader of Pakistan and he has been elected thrice as prime minister while Khan is attempting to malign him with false accusations.
He said the counsel for the Sharif family proved before the Supreme Court that no tax evasion, money laundering and concealment of assets were done by the Sharif family.
The counsel submitted the tax returns and relevant documents, explaining the money trail of the businesses, he claimed.
