The provincial assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Friday witnessed pandemonium after the trade of sloganeering between the legislators of PML-N and Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI). Speaking on a point of order the parliamentary leader of PML-N, Sardar Aurangzeb Nalotha accused the provincial government of pushing the opposition to wall and negating development schemes under the annual development programme (ADP).
He demanded the constitution of a house panel to review the situation and create consensus in the connections with the development schemes in the constituencies of the opposition legislators. He further demanded divisional-wise distribution of the ADP funds so every area of the province will get its due share.
The PML-N legislator accused the PTI government of discriminatory attitude with opposition in development schemes and attributed to the injustice of the justice party. The remarks of the opposition legislator prompted the Speaker to switch off his mike.
To reply the scathing criticism of Sardar Nalotha, Advisor to Chief Minister Mushtaq Ghani took the floor to reply. But, other PML-N legislators also joined their parliamentary leader in protest and chanted slogans against the PTI chief Imran Khan.
The legislators of PML-N were chanting slogans of "Go Imran Go" and "Ro Imran Ro" while Mushtaq Ghani and other PTI legislators were chanting slogans against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Amid the exchange of slogans between the legislators of PML-N and PTI, the Speaker announced the adjournment of the proceedings of the house till February 20, 2017. Meanwhile, the house earlier passed unanimous resolution demanding of the federal government for making proper legislation for moon-sighting through parliament and mentioning of all small languages in the census scheduled in March and April of the current year.
The resolutions moved by the Jamaat-e-Islami MPA, Mohammad Ali in the house with Speaker Asad Qaiser in the chair were carrying the signatures of legislators from both opposition and treasury legislators.
Taking the floor on a point of order, the legislator requested the Speaker for the suspension of rules to allow him for the presentation of the resolutions.
Through the first resolution, the house demanded of the provincial government to recommend to federal government for making legislation regarding moon-sighting under Article 144 of the constitution to resolve the Ruet-Hilal related issues of the province.
Similarly, through the second resolution, the federal government was demanded for the registration of small languages to maintain their identity. The resolution said that the country nearly 70 languages while about 10 languages are spoken in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
It said that in the census, only major languages are mentioned before the speakers while small languages are ignored. Therefore, the resolution called for the mentioning of the small languages also to maintain their identity. The ruling party women MPAs have boycotted the proceedings of the house for two consecutive days to protest discriminatory attitude of the provincial government with them.
