The Pakistan Peoples' Party has rejected the increase in salaries of chief minister, provincial ministers and advisors in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and described the decision as basic violation of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's manifesto and tall claims.
Speaking at cabinet meeting of his party here on Friday PPP provincial President Engineer Muhammad Humayun Khan said that PTI had claimed to bring an end to luxurious buildings under use of ministers and promote poor employees but it failed to materialise its commitment. He said that Chef Minister Pervez Khattak himself increased the salaries by 400 percent which was a clear message to the nation that PTI was never different from rest of the political parties in the country.
The employees of various departments, he said were crying for promotions, increase in salaries and many others for reinstatement but the provincial government was least bothered to pay them any serious heed while the rulers increased their perks, privileges without any hesitation.
The PPP leader also came hard on Pakistan Muslim League-N leaders for using their potential to protect Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the Panama papers case, saying that the nation was well aware of the actual situation and PM himself should step down. He urged the PM to avoid making speeches against corruption as such acts on his part would prove differences between his words and deeds and thus bring a bad name to the country.
Besides, the provincial office bearers, General Secretary Faisal Karim Khan Kundi, Senior Vice President Akhunzada Chattan, Member Central Executive Committee including, Rahim Dad Khan, former provincial Presidents Senator Khan Zada Khan, Sardar Ali Khan, Azam Afridi, former Governor Barrister Masood Kausar, Begum Shehzadi Suleman, Ahmed Hussain Shah and others also participated.
Sharing details about the proposed visit of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial president said that visit of the party chief would be scheduled after his return from abroad. The divisional and district level office bearers, he said would be appointed with approval of the Bilawal as he himself would interview the applicants in Peshawar.
Through a unanimously approved resolution the meeting urged federal government to declare merger of Federally Administered Tribal Area with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province at the earliest. PPP leaders said that Fata was already faced many problems due to law and order situation and now it was time to merge the tribal regions with KP so that to mitigate their issues. The participants reposed confidence in leadership and vowed to further step up efforts for reorganisation of PPP in the province.
