Tribal leaders of various political parties have demanded of the government to implement the proposed recommendations of Fata reforms committee with its true letter and spirit, and to merger tribal region with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa without any further delay.
Addressing at a news conference at press club here on Friday, Nisar Mohmand from ANP and President of Fata Political Alliance (FPA), said that a conspiracy was being hatched to use delay tactics regarding integration of Fata with KP, which could not acceptable them. He added the convening Fata grand tribal jirga in Islamabad, called by leaders of JUI-F, PkMAP and former governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mehtab Ahmad Abbasi, was a part of this effort. He said the Fata Political Alliance will not support any such attempt to keep deprive the tribal people from their due constitutional and fundamental rights, and announced to boycott from the tribal Jirga, to be held in federal capital Islamabad.
Mohammad Iqbal Afridi from PTI, Shahjehan of JI, Ejaz Afridi from ANP, Zahir Shah Safi from Pakhtunkhwa Olasi Tehreek, PPP leader Hazrat Wali, and tribal student union president Shaukat Aziz, were also present during press conference.
Nisar Mohmand asked the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, leader of PkMAP Mahmood Khan Achkzai and Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Abbasi, to stop playing with future of tribal people on dictation of others, and abstain from keeping the Fata in darkness. He said the political leaders didn't sincere with tribal people, and never represented the Fata. He added they are still against the development and progress in Federally Administered Tribal Areas.
He further criticised the political leaders didn't react regarding constitution of parliamentary committee regarding future of Fata. He added they are creating hurdles implementation of the proposed recommendations of Fata reforms committee by various tactics, which he termed a conspiracy to block way of mainstreaming the tribal region, and called it as anti-Fata policy.
FPA president urged the political leaders to avoid from further keeping tribal people in darkness for their vested interest and to support the ongoing reforms process to initiate the process of development and progress in Fata. He strongly opposed the holding the referendum in Fata, and said that there was not provision in constitution to hold such exercise in the tribal region. He demanded of the government to immediate merger Fata with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, besides holding of population census and local bodies elections in tribal region.
