The Dealers Vehicle Registration Scheme is a revolutionary step of the Punjab government for rapid departmental service delivery under which vehicle dealers are being authorised to make registration of the vehicles for the facility of the citizens.
This was stated by Deputy Commissioner Salman Ghani while chairing a joint meeting of local excise department officers and vehicle dealers.
The DC said the Punjab government had taken maximum benefit from advance information technology for raising the standard of departmental services for ensuring complete good governance. He said citizens were being provided every possible facility for the disposal of official work through the methods of information technology and the registration of the vehicles through authorised dealers would help in rapid service delivery, transparency and making the concerned system inline with the international standard. He said vehicle dealers' cooperation and keen interest was imperative to make the scheme successful.
He urged upon the dealers of the vehicles to come forward and get their names registered with the Punjab Excise Department to work under the scheme so that no vehicle could come on road without registration and number plate.
He emphasised upon the dealers to get complete information and details of that scheme for clear-cut working without any ambiguity and they would be assisted in case of any issue or problem. Director Excise Ahmad Saeed briefed the meeting about the salient feature of dealers' vehicle registration scheme and objectives of introducing the scheme.
He informed that the dealers registered with the excise department could make the registration of the vehicles and issue the number plates after receiving relevant documents. He said the number plates would be provided to the authorised vehicle dealers in advance. He said the dealers could charge fee of Rs 500/- for motorcycles and Rs 2000/- for cars registration.
He informed that a dealer had been registered with the department for registration of vehicles while four cases were in pipeline for the purpose. The vehicle dealers expressed their interest for registration and pointed out some issues in this connection.
