The Deputy Head of Mission, European Union delegation to Pakistan Anne Marchal distributed certificates among the successful participants of the Shoe Assembly training conducted at GILT by the EU funded project under TRTA-III titled PLCIP.
Ms. Marshal also inaugurated e-learning tool for Footwear pattern making in Urdu. She said, "Footwear is one important export contributing industry of Pakistan. I am pleased to witness the overwhelming response and participation of all manufacturers and stakeholders in PMLS 2017 and training conducted by PLCIP. The trainers will further train end beneficiaries and this way they will make a positive impact and hopes that this program focusing on building their capacities and human resources will help the leather and footwear industry to avail enhanced market access in the EU under the GSP+." She also congratulated the organizers for successfully organising Pakistan Mega Leather Show 2017.
The Project Director of PLCIP, Mr. Usman H. Malik in his presentation, briefed the audience about the value additions and intervening activities in the leather industry. PLCIP has been involved in supporting the Business Intermediary Organisations (BIOs) ie PLGMEA, PTA, PGMEA and PFMA; and Business Development Services and Vocational Education Training Institutes.
The main developments and achievements of PLCIP include improving productivity, shop floor management, export diversification and new market access. The assistance of the PLCIP will continue in providing technical training and know-how to the Pakistani leather exporters to address the challenging needs of the international market.
