Test captain Misbah-ul-Haq Thursday said a change of captaincy would not make as much difference to Pakistan's cricket; what is needed is to overhaul the domestic cricket system as a whole and nurture talent.
"We have to improve domestic cricket and groom talent. There is no dearth of talent; what is needed is to groom the talent so that the boys could show performance with consistency equally home and abroad," Misbah said while talking to reporters here at Sabzazar, Lahore.
When asked about his performance, Misbah said, "In cricket talent and fitness are pre-requisite for performance. Age does not matter. I am fit and focusing to regain his performance through hard work."
He said he is going to Dubai on Friday to show his muscles in PSL. "Don't start thinking that there will be change after PSL," he said. "I think we have to improve the domestic structure. We have to prepare better pitches and improve the standards of our cricket in domestic set-up."
To a query, Misbah said everybody knows issues of Team Pakistan. PCB is also going to take cricket legends into confidence to improve the state of affairs. If we want to do well in England, Australia and South Africa, we have to give the players maximum experience of playing there.
It may be added that Misbah has been under pressure amid suggestions from cricketing quarters in the country that he should retire. However, Misbah keen to assess his batting and hunger for the game as he leads Islamabad United, the defending champions, during the PSL's second edition in the UAE.
When asked about who he thinks should be chosen as the next captain, Misbah refused naming a likely successor, saying it is not his place to say who is deserving of the spot. Pakistan Cricket Board is receiving expert advice by various veterans of the sport and that the board should consider their advice, he said.
