Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Engr Iqbal Zafar Jhagra has announced the creation of special fund for providing financial assistance for Liver transplant surgery for needy patients belonging to FATA.
Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra also instructed to establish a special task force to prepare 'a comprehension action plan' for the prevention, diagnosis and management of chronic viral Hepatitis C in the FATA region.
He expressed these views while presiding over a high level meeting to discuss the current status of Patient from FATA with chronic Liver disease especially those needing Liver transplant surgery and treatment for hepatitis.
Beside others, the meeting was attended by Dr Syed Najam ul Hassan Shah (consultant Hepatologist & Director Liver Transplant), Additional Chief Secretary FATA Fida Wazir, Secretary Social Sector Department, Director Health FATA. Dr Syed Najam ul Hassan Shah briefed the meeting about the liver transplant and Hepatitis.
During meeting, ways and means were discussed to help out deserving Patients from FATA who require Liver transplant surgery in particular and treatment for chronic viral hepatitis in general.
